Made a famous location by the already-famous SCUBA diver Jacques Cousteau, the Great "Blue Hole" has been a destination for divers since the 1970's. With ledges at various depths of 69 feet, 161 feet, and 299 feet, it is believed that the Blue Hole formed in stages; when sea levels were much, much lower. Coming in 1st place in Discovery Channel 2012's "Top Ten Most Amazing Places on Earth", this natural marvel is undoubtedly a great place to see, and a better place to dive.
Turneffe Reef was designated a marine reserve in 2012, and is considered by many to have the best diving in Belize. The atoll is the largest of Belize's 3, with mangroves feeding surrounding waters with nutrients, which allows many dive sites to turn into spawning sites for reef fish, so marine biodiversity is at it's fullest capacity. Parrotfish, angelfish, groupers, snappers, barracuda, bottlenose dolphins and even occasionally manatees can be seen while exploring the reef system. With over 70 ideal dive sites, there's enough variety to keep even the most experienced diver preoccupied for weeks. With water temperatures in November at approximately 80 degrees and visibility around 100ft, not only is your dive comfortable, but with so many dive sites to choose from, the probability of a dive being cancelled is virtually non-existent!
